Bethesda is developing a new game from a new license, according to an Xbox insider. The studio would thus have planned to create a new IP different from The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, DOOM, Wolfenstein, Dishonored and all the others.
The acquisition of ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda, by Microsoft for $8.1 billion gives the video game giant access to all of the studio’s franchises. The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, DOOM, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, Prey, Deathloop, The Evil Within and many other franchises have thus become the property of Microsoft.

Bethesda would be developing a new game, but it would not belong to the studio’s current licenses. According to renowned Xbox insider Nick Baker, Bethesda is reportedly developing a new game. It would be from a new IP, but we still have few details.

New real-time strategy (RTS) IP in the works at Bethesda?
During episode 97 of the XboxEra podcast, Nick Baker revealed that the new game developed by Bethesda has the code name “Project Wormwood”. It would be a real time strategy game like Age of Empires, StarCraft or Anno.
Of course, Wormwood is probably not the real name of the game, so it wouldn’t be impossible for the title to be sequel to an existing Bethesda franchise. However, none of the franchises listed above are based on real-time strategy. Unfortunately, Nick Baker did not reveal more details about this rather mysterious game.
We will have to content ourselves with this little information for the moment. We cannot yet confirm whether a new IP is indeed in development at Bethesda. It could also be an Xbox and PC exclusive since some studio games will not be released on PS5. This is also the case of Starfield, the next space RPG from Bethesda whose release is expected for November 11, 2022.
